While the garden furniture on the terrace is exposed to wind and weather, the wooden floor in the living room also faces humidity, dirt and liquids.
In short: furniture, work surfaces and floors made of wood have to withstand various strains every day. Parkett Hinterseer shows how you can optimally protect wood with varnish, glaze, wax and oil and thus extend its service life!
Which wood preservative should it be?
Hard wax oil
Hard wax oil combines the advantages of natural oils and wax in a wood preservative. It is especially suitable for solid wood flooring, planks, ship floor and furniture surfaces. The wood coating puts a protective layer over the wood. Hard wax oil enhances the color intensity of the wood surface, is extremely resilient and water and dirt repellent. Depending on the condition of the wood surface, one or two coats are necessary.
Wood oil
Wood that is not treated loses color strength. With regular care with wood oil durability is visibly extended. The oil penetrates deep into the wood, underlines the natural grain and intensifies the color tone. Whether patio and living room floors or wooden furniture indoors and outdoors - wood oil is versatile.
Color oil
Color oil not only provides effective protection, but refines wooden floors and objects in the interior. The wood protector serves as a colored primer for wooden floors and for painting over darkened wooden surfaces. Color oil is also suitable for furniture and children's toys.
Natural oil paint
Natural oil paint is a high-covering wood preservative based on natural, vegetable oils. With the help of the color you can change the wood tone, the wood structure and grain is still preserved.
The wood paint is used mainly on facades, balconies, windows and garden furniture. Natural oil paint is open-pored and allows the wood to breathe. It is also weather and UV resistant.
Glaze
Glaze is a color tone, but transparent wood coating. It is not opaque - consequently, the natural wood grain is not lost due to the treatment. A wood stain protects the material from environmental influences and makes it more resistant. Since our wood preservative is based on natural oil, the wood can breathe and swelling and shrinkage is prevented.
Lacquer
Varnish not only protects wood from weathering, but also makes it more durable. The wood protection is opaque.
Apply wood preservative: tips and tricks
- As a rule, before painting wood requires pre-treatment. Remove old layers of varnish, so that in the end there are no irregularities.
- Make sure that the desired wooden surface is dry, clean, load-bearing and free of grease.
- Always paint along the wood grain. In this way, the respective wood preservative can optimally penetrate into the pores.
- Wear gloves and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
- A paint build-up is composed of a base coat, intermediate coat and final coat. Before and between each coat, you should treat the wood with an abrasive. This makes the wood preservative adhere better and the surface becomes nice and smooth.
What tools do I need?
For the wood coating to succeed, the choice of tools is crucial. A large selection awaits you at Parkett Hinterseer! So you can find the right equipment for every project
For the application of varnish and oil, we recommend a brush with a wide handle. You can also spread oil with the help of a cloth. While a large brush is ideal for straight surfaces, small brushes are ideal for narrow, angled surfaces. For large areas such as patios or parquet floors, it is best to use a paint roller attached to a telescopic pole.
